A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF BMI & SPORTS COMPETITIVE ANXIETY AMONG GIRL KABBADI PLAYERS OF INDIA

The purpose of the study was to compare BMI & Sports Competitive Anxiety among girl Kabaddi players. For the present study 144 girl were selected as subject for the study by incidental sampling technique. The age of the subjects ranged from 16 to 20 years. Subjects were participants of 38th Junior National Kabaddi Championship – 2011 of the 16 selected teams from India. To analyze BMI formal Weight / Height  and SCAT an Anxiety Questionnaire Developed by Charles D. Spielberger, Richard L. Gorsuch, and Robert E. Lushene in 1964 was used.

RELAXATION TECHNIQUES IN SPORTS

Relaxation is characterised by an absence of activity and tension. Relaxation is the most fundamental psychological skill. Stress management techniques viz. autogenic training, biofeedback, hypnosis, meditation, progressive relaxation, and other methods have been used as aids against stress in various fields-psychotherapy and sports in particular. Self talk enhances and reinforcing self-confidence before an athletic performance. In progressive relaxation technique, an individual progresses form one muscle to another to learn the skill.

The constant honing for healthier life style has led to develop highly sophisticated sports, fitness and recreation programme related facilities in every locality, so as to accommodate the variety of activities in one setting. Further individuals with management skills are employed to manage these highly developed facilities which pose them a great challenge.
